Jim Hovren, Distinguished Visitor Aboard USS NIMITZ

In March of 2017, our partner Jim Hovren was afforded the immense honor of being selected to participate in the Commander Naval Air Forces (CNAF) Distinguished Visitor embark program aboard the USS NIMITZ (CVN 68). Along with 14 other “DV’s,” Mr. Hovren departed from the Naval Air Station North Island, Coronado, CA on March 21st aboard a Navy C-2A “Greyhound,” landing a short time later in an “arrested landing” aboard the USS NIMITZ. What a thrilling experience – one that was surpassed in excitement only by the catapult launch off the NIMITZ the following day!

But beyond the excitement of the catapult launch (going from 0 to 150 MPH in 1.5 seconds!), the true highpoint of the adventure was being afforded a very rare, first-hand look at life aboard an aircraft carrier and witnessing the pride and professionalism displayed by the young men and women who serve our country. Those young men and women deserve our admiration and support.
